"Wow!!! if you really want a relaxing educational tour experience this is the way to go! Being a Melbourne resident I had no clue about the history of the Eastern suburbs. You really get to see where the rich and famous live and get a taste of their 'story'. When you learn about these things there's definitely more of an appreciation and respect that surfaces. It just goes to show there actually is so much background happening within a suburb. What a unique tour! Kel and Melissa are so genuine, accommodating and flexible, they really created a homey intimate effect which is why we felt so comfortable. We even got little treats and had a beautiful walk along the Yarra River and a relaxing afternoon tea at Como House which I had no idea existed. It was really nice to connect with fellow passengers too in such a friendly environment. Kel is a fantastic tour guide! You really have a lot of "I had no idea" moments. You even get to see where celebrities went to secondary school. I found it really positive to find out that there is a philanthropic charitable side to the rich and famous too and Kel executes this knowledge so well. “Highly highly” recommended people - you won't regret!"

"Top tour for the young and old and we would recommend to anyone going to Melbourne. We would like to say thank you to Melissa and Kel as they made us feel welcome. Their knowledge on the places visited was outstanding."

Helen C, Alice Springs

"Fantastic tour guides. Knew so much about the ins and outs of Melbourne, really helped us make the most of our trip. Would recommend it to anyone."

Tom M, London

"We recently took the Essential & Eclectic Melbourne tour - 3 hours is all it took and was amazing. The value was high quality and recommend anyone interested in seeing Melbourne on a half day tour to book your place. My husband was wrapped visiting the Carlton Football Club - an avid supporter of the Blues. The 12 seater Mini Van was exceptionally clean and tidy, umbrella's, sunscreen and water was provided. Having a few stops along the way was excellent so we didn't just sit in the bus looking out the window which can happen on some tours. We booked on their website and received confirmation immediately. I thought I knew Melbourne quite well considering I lived here many years ago - not the case. We'll be back again and look forward to your other tours. We'll be recommending you without a doubt. It was fantastic and the tour finished off with receiving a gift each to remind us of our time with Melbourne Encountour. Thank you, money well spent!"

"Fantastic!!! Best 3 Hours to see Melbourne I have ever experienced. Very knowledgeable. Beautiful place to visit."

Edie C, Plano, Texas

"A great three hours spent with Kel driving through some of Melbourne's eastern suburbs showing you a real insight into a wealthy areas of Melbourne. Started with a drive through the city in a 12 seater mini bus. We walked along the Yarra River and saw mansions with private boat jetties, along the way we were shown houses where various well known Australians live, and we even looked through a new, very palatial home. While all the time Kel was telling us about Melbourne's history. A quick coffee stop at one of Melbourne's oldest homes "Como" while strolling through its gardens. I'm from Melbourne and was surprised at what I didn't know existed under my own nose!"

Viv Howe, Melbourne

“We had 2 days in Melbourne and were thrilled to see Melbourne outside of the CBD. Had no idea there was so much we could see in 3 hours. The weather was cold, but didn't affect the tour one bit. Next time we visit Melbourne, we’ll book again on another of your tours. Highly recommend Melbourne Encountour”.

Kel and Melissa drew up a tour of Melbourne and the surrounds based on their great knowledge, love of their city and one phone conversation with Tony. They picked us up from our hotel in a beautiful, clean and comfortable bus. After 5 minutes with them we felt like we had known them for years. During the day we were introduced to various sporting arenas, we walked along the beach, saw some magnificent old (& new) homes and learnt about some of the Melbourne fore-fathers who have helped establish this great city. Kel brought history alive to us with his admiration for the strong men and women of the past. There were many highlights for us but the walk along the Yarra (with numerous other smart Melbournians) tops all others. Give them a call and be prepared for a wonderful experience.

My partner and I went on the 'tour of the rich and famous' - with a description like that we did not know what to expect. We have both been Melbourne residents all of our lives but we discovered and learnt about areas of our home city that we had not know about beforehand. It was interesting to learn about the history behind the well established and wealthy areas of Melbourne, including the 'famous' Melbournians who live there. We learnt more about our educational, tax and infrastructure systems - quite thought provoking seeing as though we have just started a family of our own and will have to make educational decisions for our children in the future. Melissa and Kel were so hospitable and so personable as this is not a tour for the masses, rather a boutique experience being only a very small group in a minivan. A highlight of the afternoon was an afternoon tea stop at The Stables of Como House and a brief walk along the Yarra River. Would recommend this tour both for the tourist and lifelong Melbourne resident wanting to learn a bit more about the culture and heritage of their city.

"At our request Kel and Melissa put together a private tour of the Melbourne Peninsula. This included Heritage gardens (Heronswood), wineries and a very popular lunch venue at Main Ridge (the Pig and Whistle). Destinations and itinerary were well researched, and the tour commentary lively and appropriately informed for our predominantly overseas visitor group. A great day out ending with more stunning views back towards Melbourne from Arthurs Seat Lookout, and group photography. Well done the Encountour Team, would thoroughly recommend their professionalism."

John W, Melbourne

"I was lucky enough to be invited on this Melbourne Encountour tour. Kel and Melissa organised a specialised day trip to the Mornington Peninsula and each place we visited had spectacular views over the magnificent bay. The commentary was informative, witty and not overbearing. The van was comfortable and spotlessly clean. Everyone had a wonderful day out. Thanks Kel and Melissa. Much appreciated."

Rory & Jenny, Scotland

Kel and Melissa were excellent hosts, very friendly and knowledgeable about their Melbourne. They modified the tour itinerary to fit in with our requirements and nothing was a problem. We also visited many places not on some of the other tours on offer and really enjoyed our tour. We would definitely recommend Melbourne Encountour to all.

Lee, Melbourne

Excellent tour - Kel and Melissa were terrific. Highly recommended. Really appreciated the flexibility of the tour and the friendly approach.

After a month away from Melbourne, I am even more curious about the hometown. This tour of the 'establishment villages' was just right. Being in a small tour bus and in good hands, made me feel it's OK to stare at houses, schools and shops! The tour is a good conversation starter about the rich and famous so could be done for a variety of reasons... envy, social study, house hunting, business tips! Kel and Mel were great conversationalists themselves and attentive, generous hosts. The 'old chic' Como House was a good breather and the Yarra walk was a lovely, easy bonus.

Carmel, Footscray

Wonderful for visitors that can’t walk long distances but still want to see Melbourne suburbs and takes the stress out of finding parking and driving in unfamiliar areas. Will recommend and will take part in the other tours they have on offer.

David, Sydney

When you've done the big draw attractions in Melbourne, this tour takes you deeper into what makes Melbourne really tick. Kel is a great storyteller, and he kept us entertained and informed with a wealth of well-researched information. Part bus tour, part walking tour, the pace was easy. The small group aspect is great - plenty of time for questions and you could always hear what was going on. Both Kel and Melissa were keen to share their love of Melbourne, and even those who call this place home will find some undiscovered gems. Thanks guys, it was a great morning!

Sheila, Melbourne

A very interesting tour conducted by two amazingly friendly and knowledgeable guides. A great way to get to know a different part of Melbourne. Highly recommended to go with friends.

Daniel, Brighton

Living in Torquay, we still thought we knew all about Melbourne. We now know that isn’t the case. Kel our tour guide’s knowledge is outstanding and the tour was well worth the 4 hours. We chose the “Lifestyle of the Rich & Famous”. During the tour we stopped 3 times giving us a break from driving around. The house was amazing, the afternoon tea was amazing and the walk along the river was outstanding. By the way, loved our gift. Thank you Melbourne Encountour for a fabulous afternoon.

Leanne, Torquay

Melbourne Encountour certainly showed us what it is like 15 kilometres from Melbourne’s CBD. Our tour took 3 hours taking us through the Sporting areas which Melbourne is known for. Enjoyed our stop off in St Kilda before visiting the iconic Bathing Boxes in Brighton. They are certainly worth a visit and to see it this way, saved the hassle of catching public transport. Thanks Melbourne Encountour - lots of fun. The Van was extremely clean, the driver's knowledge was outstanding and I will certainly be recommending this tour to family and friends visiting from Hobart.

Bernie, Hobart

I have to admit, when my partner told me he had booked us a day with Melbourne Encountour, I was a little concerned. Having lived in Melbourne all my life, I was convinced I wasn't going to be taught or shown anything I hadn't seen before....well that turned out to be totally incorrect. Our tour guides Kel and Melissa, were delightful people, full of so much knowledge about the history of Melbourne. The 3 hour tour took us to places where we must admit, we would have driven by hundreds of times, Within their beautifully clean and comfortable tour van, Kel and Melissa in this instance, amazed us with what lay within the history of the landmarks visited and the people associated with them. Thanks for a great day out Kel and Melissa. You helped us see Melbourne through a different set of eyes, and we would happily recommend it to anyone who wants to be shown and experience our beautiful city. You kept us engaged and we left satisfied that it was money well spent.
